Introduction Indian union electronic company was established in 1990 with manufacturing facilities for producing high quality electrical insulation materials based on Natural Mica and Mica heating elements to meet the growing demands of the electrical industries. MICA BLOCKS Mica blocks are available in a wide range of sizes like ruby mica blocks, green mica blocks and can be cut according to the buyer’s specifications. We employ highly skilled man power who manually grade and cut the mica blocks to ensure zero-defects in the finished product. Mica after extraction from the mines is sorted out and the pieces having area larger than 1" sq. and up and a having a thickness of 7 mils and up are classified separately as Mica Blocks. The grade of mica is known according to its quality as follows: Clear (CL) special, Clear & Slightly Stained (CL&SS) V-1, Fair Stained (FS) V-2, Good Stained (GS) V-3, Stained ‘A’ V-4, Stained First (1st) V-5, Stained ‘B’ V-5,6, Heavily Stained (HS) V-6 and Densely Stained (DS) V-7. Mica sheets are available in irregular shapes due to natural occurrence. Two different variants of mica block color-wise: Ruby mica blocks, Green mica blocks. The edges will be cut out & a thin layer will be picked up from both faces to give it a smooth look. Since mica is fragile at the edges, this smoothing process makes it more firm all around the edges. MICA SPLITTINGS Pieces of medium quality mica having a thickness of less than 1 mil are classified as mica splitting. Mica splitting consists of layers split from mica blocks. These are generally processed manually with the help of sharp knives to the required thicknesses. Mica splitting has superior electrical qualities, such as high dielectric strength and also has excellent mechanical strength. Our mica splitting is renowned for their superior quality worldwide. Mica splittings are used to make Wrapper, Micanite and related products. These splitting are either in 'Book-form' type or Dusted 'Loose' type known as book form mica splitting, Dusted loose mica splitting. Book form mica splitting consists of individual books of mica from the same mica blocks, as the name suggests appears like a book due to the uniform sizes of all the Mica pieces. Each book form mica can contain seven and up thin sheets of mica. FABRICATED MICA Pieces of mica block having a thickness range between 2 mils to 7 mils are classified as mica thins. These are used to manufacture fabricated mica. Fabricated mica applies to cutting & punching of natural mica sheets to a specified shape and thickness for electrical and electronic end-uses. Most of the fabricated mica mechanisms are custom built against buyer’s specifications and drawings. The fabrication is performed by using foot/power presses with the help of compound dies. The mica may also be hand-sheared & drilled. They are produced into innumerable designs varying in size, pattern, thickness and quality. We supply a wide range of fabricated mica that includes of mica discs, mica washer (die cut/lathe cut), cut gasket, strip mica use for liquid level indicator, mica condenser plates, mica segments, backing mica and we also develop dies to fabricate mica as per the customers/buyer’s specification/drawing. We manufacture custom cut, punch and machine mica to your exact drawings and specifications.
Transistor Parts
Power transistors and diodes need an insulation to prevent excessive heat reducing their performance, Precision punched mica washers help the transistor to be insulated from the chassis and to dissipate the heat away from the transistor and other semi-conductors.
Crimped / Corrugated Mica
Corrugated mica is made from Muscovite mica (Green and Ruby) which withstands high temperatures of above 800 degree C. Corrugated mica is supplied as per customer’s specification. The main use of this type of mica is in soldering irons.
Mica for Liquid Level Indicators
Mica being unaffected by high temperature and high pressure, is an ideal optical medium for checking the measurements in boilers for liquid level and pressure of steam.
Mica Washers
This mica washer of inferior quality with round opening in the centre, which can be bonded by shellac or epoxy into considerable lengths. Maximum use is in railways.
Condenser Plates
Pieces of high quality mica having thickness generally less than 2 mils are classified as condenser films. Condenser Plates are made by die cutting of thin mica films, it is screen printed with silver ink to be used as an electrode in mica capacitors.
Wrapper Mica
Made by die-cutting of mica thins; it is corrugated and eventually used in wrapping the heating element of soldering iron.
Cut Mica Discs
Die cut or lathe cut round discs are used in liquid level indicators, breathing apparatus, communication devices, fuses, etc.
Trimmer Mica
Made of stacked mica dielectric capacitance units, between two spring nonferrous metal conducting plates; mounted within a ceramic container, or on a ceramic base. Adjusting screw provides variable compression on the formed metal plate separation.
Backing Mica
These are small cut pieces of mica to be used on both sides of silver mica, to give mechanical strength to mica stacks for building mica capacitors.
Heating Elements
Due to electrical insulation, it is used in irons, toasters, kettle, rice cooker, hair drier, etc. In all these applications, the electrical wire is wound around the mica. Mica heating elements are made from natural mica and mica products such as mica paper board used as high grade resistance wire for better heat and good life. Mica Heating Elements are mainly used for electric irons, laundry irons, toasters, custom elements, kettles, heaters etc.
